    How Does Botox Work?

Botox can reduce, eliminate and prevent fine lines and wrinkles. Discover how botulinum toxin works and what to expect from a treatment.

Anti-wrinkle injections — commonly referred to as Botox — use a highly purified protein called botulinum toxin type A. When administered in tiny, carefully measured doses by a qualified medical practitioner, the protein temporarily relaxes the small facial muscles responsible for expression lines such as forehead creases, frown lines between the brows and crow's feet around the eyes.

The treatment itself is quick, virtually painless and requires no downtime. Using an ultra-fine needle, Danielle administers a few small injections into the target muscles. Most clients return to work or social plans straight after their appointment with nothing more than a few faint pin-prick marks that settle within an hour.

Results begin to appear from day three and are at their full effect at around fourteen days. The skin above the treated muscles smooths and softens, fine lines fade and the overall expression looks rested rather than frozen. A natural, refreshed look is always our goal — never an over-treated one.

On average, results last between three and four months. With regular treatments the muscles learn to relax and most clients find that the time between top-ups gradually extends. A complimentary follow-up two weeks after your first treatment ensures the result is exactly right for you.

Anti-wrinkle injections are also highly effective for medical concerns such as excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), teeth grinding and jaw tension, and chronic migraines. If you'd like to learn more, book a consultation with Danielle to discuss which areas would benefit you most.
